Safe and intuitive patient positioning at CT and PET/CT

DORADOnova and CARINAnav have been standard components in radiotherapy patient positioning for many years. While the movable DORADOnova laser system enables precise laser projection within the room, the CARINAnav control software – together with its tablet‑based operator device – manages and monitors each individual laser unit.

Even in combination with modern SGRT solutions such as LUNA 3D, the systems support fast and reproducible pre‑positioning of patients, helping to streamline daily workflows in clinical practice. Lasers provide a stable reference that is immediately visible in the room and independent of camera‑based systems – an advantage that also facilitates phantom positioning for quality assurance.

Modernized technical foundation for clinical routine

With Version 1.4.7, LAP continues to consistently advance the CARINAnav platform. As a hardware option, the updated Pokini Tab A8C tablet will now be available in combination with the Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 operating system. The LTSC (“Long Term Servicing Channel”) version of Windows is specifically designed for security‑critical environments such as hospitals and receives only security‑relevant and long‑term stable updates.

"The new tablet with Windows 11 LTSC provides healthcare facilities with long‑term stability, reduces update effort, and increases cybersecurity - without requiring any changes to the familiar workflows for users," explains Torsten Hartmann, Director Product Management Healthcare at LAP.

Additional updates, such as enhancements to libraries or the PDF viewer, further support seamless integration into existing workflows.

Outlook: Foundation for the next CARINAnav generation

The current release is part of the ongoing development of the CARINAnav platform. Together with DORADOnova, CARINAnav will remain a reliable and future‑ready solution for positioning tasks in radiation therapy.
